BATTLE-SITE SURVEY PHOTOS
This study was made possible by the American Battlefield Protection Program of the National Park Service, Washington-D.C.

The Brown County Historical Society is receiving over $33,000 in grant money from the American Battlefield Protection Program. The money will be used to help find artifacts from the 1862 U.S.-Dakota War, fought between settlers and the Dakota Indians.
The battlefields are throughout Brown County including the townships of Milford and the City of New Ulm; there are also several other townships and locations that will be surveyed.
The archeology report of the battle-sites should be done before the end of 2010. More surveying will take place in September of 2010.

Below are several photos of surveys done in various locations throughout Brown County in 2010.

Photographs are used with permission from the Brown County Historical Society, New Ulm, MN.
